Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United America. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the business. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals since February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father being a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, particularly after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic elementary school in her area and started the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After failing several classes during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
